Ice Forces Traffic Delays

Fordland experienced freezing rainfall on Sunday evening into Monday morning, which has resulted in icy conditions. Overnight, MoDOT crews worked the highways. Slow traffic circumstances were caused by visitors. Many vehicles have slid off the road and causing issues for the Missouri Highway Patrol We have received reports of slide offs on Highway 60, Z Highway, FF and many others throughout the Fordland area. More than 250 schools in the Ozarks were closed as a result of the storm, including Fordland. It is recommended to stay off the roadways until MoDOT can make the roads safe. If you must get out, it is recommended to slow down, allow for plenty of extra time to get where you are going, and allow a lot more room between you and the car in front of you. It is also suggested to bring along a winter storm safety kit. Some items to include are: sand or kitty litter for traction, blanket, water, non perishable snacks, battery charger cables, tow rope among other things.
